My choice would be to use Edmodo in my classroom. It’s more teacher and student friendly. I like the idea of private conversations with the students, as well as the ability to post a quiz and have a grade book for them to check how they did.
I would begin with posting class questions centered on a book that is read during class, for an informative assessment. Once the students were comfortable with using Edmodo, I would create literary groups so that they could discuss stories that they are reading in class and collaborate about the report or presentation that they would give about the story.

With more experience, I would then like to use the “Paper Slide Video” as a form of book report that they could create in class, and then upload in a Blog link for others to see.

    Edmodo Negatives

*you can't use a variety of templates, it is just standard

I would choose Edmodo because it is more private, and has a grade book and calendar. I also like that students can comment directly to the teacher or post to the whole group. I also like having the ability to upload assignments, quizzes, and polls. Edmodo also gives parents their own password, so they can keep updated as well. Another feature I really liked was that you can send messages directly to parents' and students' phones.

I would integrate this into my classroom by posting educational websites that students can go to reinforce skills at home. I would also like to upload assignments and quizzes to check for understanding. I also would like to post a group project that students could create using Edmodo, where they would have group discussions and collaboration.

  3. Blogger
    Positives:
    - online diary
    - interesting
    - can work on assignments
    - students can collaborate
    - interactive
    - can encourage all students to share
    Negatives:
    - can be addictive
    - insecure
    - some students may not have internet at home
    - worry about visitors
    - students can edit other's comments

    Edmodo
    Positives:
    - simple
-can share ideas between students and teachers in real time
    - secure (set up with password)
    - great way to keep connected with class
    - easy to give feedback to students
    Negatives:
    - if students don't have computers at home can cause issue
    - some students may need help with web based projects

Edmodo would be my favorite to integrate into my classroom. Since Edmodo is simple and secure, I would use it with my Special Education students. I would post assigmments on here so they can work on them with their parents. The good thing about this, I can leave comments for them. We can get conversations going with each other which may be hard for them to do in one-on-one. I really like how the students need a password to get into the site.
